It is for a defendant checking a narrow automatic sealing path, not for a public search of another person's case.
Types of Montezuma County Court Records
Montezuma County court records differ by case class and court level. A District Court file may be a felony, divorce, estate, guardianship, civil lawsuit, juvenile matter, or mental health proceeding. A public docket or register of actions is not the same as the complete file. The public index may show key events, hearing settings, parties, attorneys, case class, and status. Public Access for Montezuma County Court Records
Public access to Montezuma County court records is governed first by Colorado Judicial Branch policy, including Chief Justice Directive 05-01 and the public access rules described in the Branch's access guide. County administrative records use the Colorado Open Records Act, while criminal justice records may fall under the Criminal Justice Records Act. Restricted Montezuma County Court Records
Several Montezuma County court record categories have limited public access. Juvenile delinquency, dependency and neglect, adoption, mental health, protected addresses, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, minor identifying information, and medical material may be withheld or redacted. Probate protective proceedings, guardianship, conservatorship, and child-related domestic filings may also contain restricted material.
Sealed cases require special care. The Judicial Branch sealed-case tool only confirms certain automatic sealing under C.R.S. 13-3-117 and only for the defendant. It does not answer every petition-based sealing, non-conviction sealing, first minor-in-possession sealing, or no-charge arrest sealing question.
